Partnership For Access to Learning Support (PALS)
What is the PALS Program?
The Partnership for Access to Learning Support (PALS) is a voluntary program available to Southwest Christian School families with students in kindergarten through second grade. Through a partnership with Copperas Cove ISD, eligible students may be co-enrolled, allowing both schools to receive additional funding while the SCS student's experience remains unchanged. There are no changes to curriculum, teachers, schedules, or academic requirements, and there is no cost to participate. This partnership helps SCS steward resources well, strengthen programs, and continue advancing our Christ-centered mission for students and families.
FAQ
SCS remains fully independent and Christ-centered. We do not receive government funding directly, nor are we subject to government oversight. Funding is provided through Copperas Cove ISD, and the partnership agreement is structured to protect the independence of both organizations. There are no changes to any SCS students’ schedules, teachers, curriculum, academic requirements, or testing, and there is no cost to families.
This partnership provides access to a variety of additional resources that can benefit our students, faculty, and staff, including diagnostic services, instructional support, and specialized professional development. This partnership is not about changing who we are or what we do. It’s about enhancing the excellent Christ-centered education we already provide.
Copperas Cove ISD receives state funding based on enrollment, and through this partnership, a portion of those funds is provided to SCS. These additional resources will support mission-aligned initiatives, invest in our faculty through professional development, expand access to educational diagnostic services, and strengthen programs that directly benefit our students.
This age range was selected based on Copperas Cove ISD’s enrollment needs and funding structure. It also provides an opportunity for SCS to participate in the partnership while preserving the academic program and student experience our families value.
No. There are no fees or tuition increases associated with this partnership. In fact, it’s the opposite. Copperas Cove ISD receives funding based on enrollment, and through this dual-enrollment partnership, SCS receives funding directly from Copperas Cove. These funds allow us to steward our resources well, strengthen our programs, and continue investing in our mission.
Yes. This program was designed more than 15 years ago to help rural and other under-resourced schools. Dual-enrollment partnerships like this exist across the state and are approved by the Texas Education Agency. Each agreement is structured to protect the autonomy and mission of both schools involved.
No. This arrangement does not change your child’s experience or status as an SCS student. Dual enrollment means Copperas Cove ISD includes your child in its enrollment count for funding purposes only.
Copperas Cove funding is based on its own reporting systems, and this partnership does not change how SCS monitors or reports attendance. Your child’s attendance will continue to be tracked by SCS, and Copperas Cove ISD attendance policies do not apply.
If at any point we feel the partnership no longer serves our mission or community, we can exit the arrangement without penalty.
TEFA funding is available to homeschool and private school students who are not enrolled in a public school district. If an SCS student receives TEFA funding, they will not be eligible for co-enrollment with Copperas Cove ISD.
