Board of Trustees Bios

  • Charlotte Buell - Trustee

    Charlotte Buell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (International Studies) in 1993 and from SMU Law School (J.D.) in 1997. She is a licensed member of the Texas State Bar although she is currently not practicing. She is currently enrolled at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a Masters of Biblical and Theological Studies. Charlotte’s work experience includes various part time and full time jobs as an estate planning attorney/probate, admin for certified financial planner, teacher (1st through 12th grade) at Christian Life Preparatory School, elementary school geography curriculum writer, and is currently helping her husband with their new non-profit (TEN:24) that focuses on mobilizing people for short-term missions, local and global discipleship, and church planting. Her volunteer experience includes being an active member of Christ Chapel Bible Church serving in women’s ministry, leading short-term mission trips around the world to evangelize communities and train church leaders, and leading the parent prayer group at SCS. Charlotte Buell has been married to Jeff Buell for 23 years. They have four children, three of which currently attend SCS: Ashlee (18) current senior, Sarah (15) current sophomore, and Caleb (13) current 7th grader.

  • Brad Burke - Trustee

    Brad Burke was born and raised in Midland, TX, where he attended Midland Christian School for 12 years and graduated in 2004. He then attended Texas Tech University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2009. Brad moved to Fort Worth to pursue a career with Range Resources Corporation, where he was employed in various roles from 2009 to 2017. After moving to Fort Worth, he became a member of Christ Chapel Bible Church, where he now serves on the Deacon Board. Upon leaving Range Resources, he accepted a position with Chisholm Energy Holdings where he has been until recently. Brad is currently transitioning into the role of Associate COO at Christ Chapel Bible Church. Brad has been married to his wife Katie since 2013 and they have three young children, one currently enrolled at SCS in the 1st grade and another pre-enrolled for Pre-K. God used the experience and people at Midland Christian to show His love and need for a Savior to Brad, which left a desire in his heart to serve and support a Christ-centered education for his and others’ children.

  • Michael Cawood - Chairman

    Michael has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2012 and is currently the Chair of the Board. He has served on the Advancement Committee, the Governance Committee, as a Vice Chair of the Board, and as the Chair of the Head of School Search Committee. Prior to his service on the Board, he was Chair of the Fine Arts Guild. Michael is retired from Lockheed Martin. He and his wife, Susan, are proud parents of Andrew who is 30, and Amanda who graduated from SCS ('12). Michael and Susan attend Christ Chapel Bible Church.

  • Noble Crawford, Jr. - Trustee

    Noble joined the Board in 2021 and was invited to serve on the Spiritual Life Committee. He has retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety as a criminal investigator after twenty years of service. He is also co-founder and retiree of HOPE Farm, Inc. (1990), a ministry based in Fort Worth, Texas, for the purpose of leadership development of inner-city boys who do not have the benefit of a father in the home. He served as Director of Operations for more than twenty years and continues to serve on the Board of Directors at HOPE Farm. He is a Vietnam-era United States Air Force veteran, having enlisted in the military in Tampa, Florida, where he grew up, then serving four years in Security Police in various locations, including South Korea, Okinawa, Guam and Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas. Upon receiving an honorable discharge in 1970, he continued his college education in Denton, Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1975, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications. He is an Elder and a member of Destiny Church in southwest Fort Worth. He has been married to Willie Mae (Mae) for fifty-two years and they are the proud parents of two daughters and one son, and grandparents of eight grandsons and one granddaughter.

  • Joseph DeWoody - Trustee

    Joseph DeWoody, SCS Class of 2000, joined the Board of Trustees in 2019 and serves on the Governance, Marketing and Advancement, Finance and, Spiritual Life Committees. He is the CEO of Valor Mineral Management. Joseph was selected by Oil and Gas Investor Magazine as a winner of the Top 20 under 40 Award, by Texas Monthly Magazine as a Texas Top Producer and a Best Landman in Texas Award winner, 40 under 40 by the Fort Worth Business Press and Distinguished Alumni of SCS. Joseph received his BBA and MBA from Baylor University, where he was a starter on the football team. Joseph is married to Kimberly and has two children, William and Sarah Beth, who both attend Southwest Christian School.

  • Dan DuBose - Trustee

    Dan DuBose, SCS class of 2002, joined the Board of Trustees in 2021 and serves on the Spiritual Life Committee. He is a pain management physician and the owner of D3 Pain Management in Willow Park. He earned his BBA from Baylor University and double majored in Financial Services and Planning and Risk Management and Insurance. Following graduation, he started a lawn maintenance and landscaping company in Fort Worth. After a couple of years, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a physician. He earned a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. DuBose completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Baylor Scott and White. He went on to complete a fellowship in Pain Management at Baylor Scott and White as well. He and his wife Bethany (Vick), also SCS class of 2002, have four kids attending Southwest Christian School: Ty, Jace, Addie Kate, and Brooks. The family attends Doxology Bible Church.

  • Carey Geesbreght - Vice-Chair

    Carey has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2015. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board, Vice-Chair of the Marketing and Advancement Committee and the Spiritual Life Committee, and is also a member of the Executive Committee and Governance Committee. She has previously served on the Campus Master Plan Committee. Outside of SCS, Carey is a Board member of the North Texas ACE Foundation and volunteers with several animal rescue agencies. Carey is a former criminal trial attorney. She and her husband, Alex, have three children at SCS and they attend Christ Chapel Bible Church.

  • Annette Harrell - Trustee

    Annette has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2017. She serves as the Chair of the Spiritual Life Committee and also serves on the Finance and Governance Committees. Annette has a degree in nursing and served as a pediatric nurse before becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. Annette and her husband, Daniel, have two children at SCS and one who attends Christian Life Prep School. Annette and her family attend Christ Chapel Bible Church, where Annette serves on the Parent Board for HSM (high school ministry).

  • Cindy Hayes - Trustee

    Cindy Hayes joined the Board of Trustees in 2020 and serves on the Spiritual Life, Marketing & Advancement, and Campus Master Plan committees. She is an active member at Christ Chapel Bible Church, where she serves in children’s ministry. She has been an active member of the SCS community since 2013. Cindy has severed on the Fort Worth Pregnancy Center Board and Ladder Alliance Board. She most recently worked for Adera Foundation, an international faith based organization. Cindy is married to Brad and has two sons, Landon and Hudson, both attending SCS. She holds two degrees. The first is a BA in Communication from Carson-Newman College and the second is an MS in Leadership Studies from the University of Tennessee.

  • Matt Holster - Trustee

    Matt has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2014. He serves as the Chair of the Campus Master Plan Committee and as a member of the Spiritual Life and Finance Committees.  Matt also serves as a Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. Matt is employed by Alcon. He and his wife, Walsie, have two children at SCS; Graham an 11th grader, Libby an 8th grader and Mattie (’19) is a junior at Arkansas.  The Holster family are members of Christ Chapel Bible Church.

  • Daley Miller - Trustee

    Daley Miller, SCS Class of 1996, joined the Board of Trustees in 2019. Daley graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2000 with a degree in International Business and Marketing & Management. She serves on the Marketing & Advancement, Governance, Spiritual Life, and Campus Master Planning committees. She is the President and Founder of Daily Kare Medical Supplies. Previously, Daley worked as an Executive Entertainment Producer at Reel FX Creative Studios. She produced numerous movies, commercials, and film shorts with NBC, Disney, and other independent film companies. Daley has been a part of the following organizations: Women in Film Dallas, Junior Leagues of Collin County, Dallas & Fort Worth, and Junior Women’s Club of Fort Worth. Daley has served SCS as a past PTO President, Auction Committee Chair, Capital Campaign Co-Chair, Eagle Run, and Fall Fest. She has been married to Mitchell Miller for over twenty years and they have four children attending SCS. Their daughters Karis and Klaire attend the Lakeside Campus and sons Bain and Bandon attend the CTC campus. They worship at Upper Room Dallas.

  • Paul Stumbo - Trustee

    Paul has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2015. He has served on the Campus Master Plan, Spiritual Life, and Finance Committees, and is currently serving on the Governance Committee. He and his wife, LouAnn, have been married for 27 years. Two of their children have graduated from SCS, and their youngest, Georgia, is a Senior at SCS this year. Paul is employed by American Airlines, where he is a Managing Director in the IT organization. The Stumbo family is actively involved in Christ Chapel Bible Church.

  • Karie Vargas - Trustee

    Karie Vargas joined the Board of Trustees in 2018 and serves on the Governance Committee as Chair, serves as a member of the Campus Master Planning Committee and the Strategic Planning Sub-Committee, and also serves as Secretary of the Southwest Christian School Corporation. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. She was a Mortgage Banker for 12 years and prior to that, she was a Real Estate Appraiser. She currently maintains the financials for her husband’s medical company. She is currently an active board member on a family foundation and a family ranch board. In the past, she actively served on SCS PTO and substitute taught at SCS for 12 years. She has worked with the Fort Worth Library on their Adult ESL program as well as volunteered with the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation. She has been married to Dr. Luis Vargas for 20 years and has two children; both have attended SCS since preschool. Isabella (18), SCS graduate (’21), and will begin attending UCLA in Fall 2021, and Luis (16), a current SCS student.

  • J. Brandon Waits - Trustee

    J. Brandon Waits is a self-employed owner/partner of several different businesses. He has over 20 years of finance experience as head of finance and accounting for his real estate investment companies and investor funds. Those companies include, but are not limited to, Tierra Group, LLC, TG-Leasing, LLC and TG Mortgage, LLC. In addition to his real estate experience, Mr. Waits is in the oil and gas business. He formed Grama Energy, LLC and Sideoats Energy, LP, an oil and gas investment fund, as well as, Grama Operating, LLC, an oil and gas operating company currently operating wells in the Permian Basin of Texas. Mr. Waits received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with Real Estate emphasis from Texas Christian University in 1999. He also received a ranch management certificate when he graduated from the TCU Ranch Management program in 1999. In his spare time Mr. Waits has been involved in volunteer roles with many non-profit organizations including serving on committees and boards of Southwest Christian School, TCU National Alumni Board, the TCU Young Alumni Board, the Young Professional Advocates (YPAs) of Lena Pope Home, and Travis Avenue Baptist Church (TABC), where he and his family are longtime members. Mr. Waits also volunteers his time as a spiritual/hunting guide for underprivileged youths with The ROCK (Refuge Outfitters for Christ’s Kingdom) and has coached his children’s youth sports teams for several years. Mr. Waits is married to Emily Waits, also a TCU graduate and volunteer. They have two children at Southwest Christian School. Addy Beth is currently in third grade and Dayton is currently in first grade.

  • Sarah Webb - Trustee

    Sarah Webb joined the Board of Trustees in 2017. She has served on the Finance, Governance, Audit, Investment, and Marketing & Advancement committees. Sarah is a Certified Public Accountant and leads a fractional CFO practice, Webb CFO. She has served on the board for the Junior League of Fort Worth and was named a top finance professional by the Fort Worth Business Press. Sarah is also the owner of Plaid for Women, Inc. and created the non-profit #NoMeanGirls. Sarah received her bachelors in accounting from Texas A&M University and her MBA from Texas Christian University. She is married to Daniel and has two children: Elliott and Anna, both who attend SCS. Her family attends Altamesa Church of Christ.

  • David Amend-Emeritus

    David has served on the Board of Trustees since 2002, becoming an Emeritus member in 2010. While on the Board, David served as vice-chair working on the Finance, Advancement, and Fine Arts Committees. David retired in June of 2018 as Manager of Investor Relations and Real Estate for Range Resources Corporation. He is married to Tricia, and they have three grown children, all graduates of SCS. David and Tricia attend Christ Chapel Bible Church.  

  • Robert Bullock - Emeritus

    Robert served on the Board of Trustees for nine years and became an Emeriti member in 2008. Robert and his wife, Melanie, have two daughters, both graduates of SCS. He is employed by the Covenant Group, Inc., serving as the President of CGI Construction. Robert and Melanie are long-time members of Altamesa Church of Christ.

  • Mark Creighton - Emeritus

    Mark first joined the Board in 2006 and currently serves the Board as a Trustee Emeritus, since 2017. He has served on the Spiritual Life, Endowment, Academic, and Master Plan Committees. He currently serves on the Governance Committee. Mark received the Board of Trustees Award for 2011-2012. He obtained a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University. Mark is married to Mildred and is the father of three SCS graduates, Ben (’07), Parker (’08), and Martha (’10). Mark and Mildred attend Watermark Fort Worth where Mark serves as a leader in Summit Men’s Bible Study and on the Foundation Group Directional Team working with young married couples and training new leaders. Mark has also served as a children’s leader at Bible Study Fellowship and at all levels of adult leadership in the Boy Scouts of America.

  • Sheri Jones - Emeritus

    Sheri served on the Board of Trustees from 2003 until 2020 and now serves as an Emeritus Trustee. She was Chairman of the Board from 2014-2017 and served as President of SCS from 2015-2017. While on the Board, Sheri served on the Executive, Governance, and Finance Committees. Sheri is a retired CPA and serves on the Women’s Health Council for Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth. In the past, she has also served on the Kupferle Board of Texas Health Resources Foundation, serving as Co-Chair of Puttin’ on the Pink. She and her husband, Leon, attend Altamesa Church of Christ, where Leon serves as a Shepherd and Sheri is active in several ministries. They have two sons, Ethan (’08) and (Clint ’10), who both attended SCS from preschool. Ethan owns his own business in Nashville, TN and Clint is a doctor in Temple, TX.

  • Garner Roberts - Emeritus

    Garner has served on the Board of Trustees since 1990, as both a Board Member and Board Member Emeritus. His committee assignments have included the Spiritual Emphasis, Fine Arts, Building, and Governance committees. Garner is the retired founder of BGR Specialties in Fort Worth. He and his wife, Melodye, have three daughters, all graduates of SCS. They also have five grandchildren, ages 6-11. Garner and Melodye are members of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Mansfield.

  • Dub Stocker, III - Emeritus

    Dub has served on the Board of Trustees from the late 1980s through 2010 when he became a Board Member Emeritus. He continues to be actively involved with the current Board and staff. Dub is the founder of Lonestar Resources and co-founder of Ovation Oil and Gas LLC, where he is currently a Managing Member. Dub was recognized by Fort Worth, Texas Magazine as one of Tarrant County’s top trial attorneys over a multiple-year span. He recently completed a three-year term as Chairman of the Board of the ACH Child and Family Services Board of Directors. Dub has also been on the Bridge2Rwanda Board since 2011. Dub’s five children all graduated from Christian schools, four from Southwest Christian School, and one from Lakewood Park Christian in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He and his wife, Val, attend Christ Chapel Bible Church.
