2010 President’s Circle Dinner
This year's President's Circle Dinner was hosted by the Mira Vista Country. We were blessed to have 154 SCS family members, which included parents, alumni, grandparents, friends, faculty, and staff in attendance.
Mrs. Sheri Jones, a SCS Board member, opened the evening in prayer, and Phil Grassley entertained the audience throughout the evening on the piano. The audience was blessed as they viewed the Homecoming video of the ten SCS students who were on the Homecoming Court. This video was one of the highlights of the evening as the students shared how much SCS meant to them and how being at SCS had impacted their lives.
Following the Homecoming video, Dr. Penny Armstrong, President and Headmaster of SCS, shared graduating and future information on the Class of 2010. She also shared how all that is done at SCS is Christ-centered and informed attendees that SCS is making the most of new technologies and how it supports learning. Lastly, she shared how SCS is honored to be nationally and internationally recognized for its global education initiatives.
The program continued with a moving video on the Minimester Program. Near the end of the video were pictures of SCS senior Nathan Maxwell serving on a mission trip to Jamaica during Minimester. Nathan shared with the audience how his experience in Jamaica has impacted his life forever. Because of his work with a blind man in Jamaica, he has decided to enter the ministry serving the blind.
Regan Haggerty, SCS alumnus of 2003, shared how SCS integrated spiritual truths into the classroom and because of that, her faith was strengthened and nurtured by teachers and staff. She thanked donors who have graciously given to SCS making such a Christian school available to her and many others.
The SCS Choir, under the direction of teacher Michelle Thompson, entertained the audience with two songs, "God Bless the USA", and a special arrangement by Michelle Thompson of the SCS School song.
Following the choir performance, Tom Mueller thanked donors for their past support and for the difference their giving has on the lives of students and staff at SCS. Because of donor generosity and the sharing of their time, talents, and treasures, everyone at SCS has been blessed. He asked those in attendance for their continued support for SCS and the Annual Fund. Every dollar raised by the Annual Fund is invested back into the students that attend SCS.
It was a great evening; God was honored and SCS students were given the opportunity to share what SCS means to them and how it has impacted and changed their lives. You would have been so proud to hear the students share and display their talents. SCS Board member Mike Sharpe closed the evening in prayer.
We are excited about the current school year and the opportunity we have to grow Southwest Christian School. Please prayerfully consider your gift to the 2010-2011 Annual Fund. Thank you for your support of Southwest Christian School.
