Help Haiti
Elementary Campus
As a SCS family, we are making an effort to send aide to the people who are in dire need in Haiti. We are working with Brent Gambrell’s ministry (speaker at the HS Retreat) to fill immediate needs. We have assigned the following items to each class.
Flashlights & Batteries: EC and 4th Grade
Adult Tylenol & Advil: 2nd and 5th Grade
Antibiotic Cream & Bandages (various sizes): 1st and 6th
Grade
Baby Bottles, Nipples, & Children’s Pain Reliever: K and 3rd Grade
These items must be at the campus by Thursday, January 28th. The items were selected from a list of known immediate needs and they are relatively light shipping weight. Thank you for your participation and we ask that you continue to pray for the needs of the people that are dealing with this tragedy.
Dr. Armstrong shared at the Wednesday morning chapel about SCS supporting a Christian School in Haiti in early spring. We plan to collect money to honor Ms. Marie Terese, mother of former SCS French Teacher, Don Fougere, as she perished during the earthquake in Haiti. Since Mr. Fougere plans to return to Haiti and lead a Christian School, we see a tremendous need to share in his quest. This initiative will likely begin in April.

givebread.org
Recently our middle school students were challenged in their Social Studies classes by Bobby Moore. Bobby Moore is affiliated with givebread.org, a Christian charitable organization dedicated to providing milk and food to malnourished people around the world. A collection jug is located next to the vending machines in the lunch room. Students are being asked to remember those suffering from malnutrition around the world by giving of their snack money rather than purchasing an item such as a candy bar or flavored drink. At the very least, they may want to donate the change leftover from their purchase. This will be an on-going project.
Again, we thank you for your support as we find tangible ways to help your child be a Christian leader in the world. We look forward to seeing how God is going to work in each of these endeavors.
To Southwest Christian School Employees and Students,
I want to thank you all for bringing so much joy to our residents by coming and reading and singing for us. God bless you all! P.S. We would love to have the students come and read or sing or just visit the residents during this year.

CARE PACKAGE PROJECT
The HS StuCo conducted a care package project to our troops in Iraq. They sent several items that help the troops in their current environment. In the process they stumbled across information that soldiers appreciate receiving Beanie Babies to hand out to children while they are on patrol. We received a significant amount of these plush animals from some generous SCS families and sent 9 boxes of them to Iraq.
