Preparatory Campus Library Newsletter
The SCS Library is located in the main building at the Preparatory Campus. Monthly, the librarian will publish a newsletter that will highlight happenings related to the Library. The Prep campus is located at 7001 Benbrook Lake Drive.

Facts On File
Subject databases include health, history (U.S., world, ancient, African-American,and American Indian), geography, literature, science, and career. Forms for personal and business use can also be found in FOF, as well as curriculum resources for teachers. A world atlas combines detailed, printable, full-color maps of countries, provinces, and states with up-to-date statistical and local information.

Britannica Online
Includes three encyclopedias by grade level, learning materials, a video browse, timelines, teacher resources, and more. Britannica also offers a dictionary, world atlas, and a self-guided tour of their site. A user-friendly "Help" section is also provided. Britannica: A great place to begin any research project!

Thomson Gale
You will no longer need to type in the username!
A fully integrated database containing thousands of curriculum-targeted primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, biographical information on authors, full-text coverage of over 1,000 magazines, full-text newspapers archived from 1980, over 20,000 photographs and illustrations, and more than 8 hours of audio and video clips. Includes the Texas Almanac and the Student Resource Center Health Module. Gale's "Help" section is a useful feature and user-friendly.

NetTrekker
NetTrekker is an academic search engine for students, parents, teachers, and librarians. Each of NetTrekker’s 300,000 digital resources is reviewed by expert educators for safety, academic integrity, and age appropriateness, aligned with the respective state standards, and organized by grade and reading level. Features include timelines, famous persons, image search, references, and teacher tools. Moreover, NetTrekker is designed to support differentiated instruction.

E-Library Science
Get ready to experience science in a new way! Explore thousands of full-text and multimedia files that help researchers better understand concepts in science, and that allow educators at all levels (from K-12 to university and beyond) to build engaging science materials, lessons, and activities for students of all ages.

E-Library Science users find the answers they need from more than 440 sources including magazines and journals, newspapers, TV and radio transcripts, reference books, websites, images, and streaming audio/video.

E-Library Science features a powerful user interface that makes research easy. Using natural language or Boolean search, users can type a question, phrase, or keyword. Researchers can also search or browse by science topic, reference desk, or publication. State and national science standards search allows educators and librarians to locate standards-aligned articles and other resources, which saves educators time and ensures that library resources are correlated directly to learning benchmarks.

Teaching Books
Teaching Books is a portal to thousands of online resources that can be used to explore children's and young adult books and their authors. These resources are also perfect for lesson planning, author studies, and professional development to support the many ways books can be integrated into all subject areas in the K-12 curriculum.

The World & I - “The Perfect Cross-Curriculum Resource!”
The World and I is an interdisciplinary resource that encompasses a broad range of articles by scholars and experts in their fields. Articles are aligned to each state’s standards for Social Studies, Language Arts, and Science. Also includes a Teacher's Corner.
