Lakeside Campus Laptop Requirements (BYOD)

Any laptop that can wirelessly access the internet is acceptable, such as a PC, Mac or Chromebook. At SCS, we use Google Apps for education, which includes online storage, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. The only suggested additional software would be the Google Chrome browser.

Battery life is one of the most important factors in determining the best laptop for your student. The ability to go through a day without needing to charge the battery will be most helpful.

One important note with regard to the device requirements is the wireless network protocol. Student computers with a/b/g/n wireless network cards will have a significantly faster connection to the school’s network. If you have any questions, please contact the Technology Department.

Note: SCS does not offer a long-term loaner laptop program for students participating in BYOD, but should a student encounter an issue that requires a short-term loaner laptop (less than a week), SCS has devices on hand to provide aid.
