The 8th grade social studies curriculum at SCS focuses on world cultures -- the study of the world's primary regions and the human and physical geography that shape them. There is an emphasis on the interactions between natural environment, cultural geography, geopolitics, history, land use, and economic geography. As an enhancement to these studies, a trip to Walt Disneyworld's countries at Epcot, and Animal Kingdom's "Africa" is being planned. Although this trip is not a requirement for my class, my hope is that each child will participate in this wonderful opportunity.
