Welcome to Southwest Christian School
Southwest Christian School enjoys a long history of families coming together with the common purpose of supporting a Christ-centered college preparatory education for their children. As I celebrate my tenth year at SCS, I am awed by the generosity and commitment of our families. The opportunity to partner with so many wonderful families has been a blessing for me in many ways.
I am grateful for this opportunity to share Southwest Christian School with you through this website. Our parent community looks
to us for an educational experience that will be Christ-centered, college preparatory and family oriented. We are well known for our family culture and the many ways families are encouraged to get involved in the experiences of their children
In over twenty years of working as a school administrator in both the public and private sector, I have never had the opportunity to work with a more qualified and professional teaching community than I do at SCS today. Our administrators are veteran professionals with exceptional visionary and leadership skills. They are committed to on-going professional growth and improvement for themselves as well as their faculties and SCS continues to attract and retain top teachers.
We are an interdenominational Christian school. Our student body represents over 100 churches in our community. Daily life for all ages includes Bible studies that are part of our curriculum. Biblical principles are integrated into all content areas and full school chapels are held on a weekly basis covering topics that are relevant and applicable in students' lives.
We are a college preparatory school. We are committed to providing rigorous, research based core curriculum coupled with extra-curricular opportunities that will prepare our students for successful college careers.
Our teachers are content specialists. Instruction and assessment are intentionally designed to support the developmental stages of each age group. Trained in differentiated instruction, the implications of multiple intelligences, Understanding by Design strategies and Essential Questions, our teachers apply most current research on learning and cognitive development to their lesson design.
Our curriculum is diversified and provides accelerated options for qualifying students. The academic options continue to expand as our students reach high school. All students are on a college preparatory track. Students are encouraged to consider honors and Pre-Advanced Placement classes in preparation for Advanced Placements classes. We also offer a very successful Dual Credit program in partnership with Texas Wesleyan University. These classes are taught on our campus by our qualifying faculty.
We are preparing our students to be “Christian leaders in the world”. Central to our mission is recognizing our responsibilities as global citizens.
We are very proud of our students’ academics successes and acceptances to competitive colleges and universities each year. We celebrate our athletic championships and we are honored by our recognition and awards in the Arts. In all of these achievements, however, we remain focused on our Christ-centeredness. Through this lens, we consider the kind of individuals we are trying to nurture, the kind of society we want to create and the kind of world understandings we want to build. We are in the business of transforming lives for the glory of God.
May God continue to guide and bless your families as you search for the best educational environment for your child.
