The 2008 SCS Auction, Going On A Safari , was a huge success and a fun evening. The decorations were so outstanding that the people who ran the electronic bidding slates there said it was the best theme and the best interpretation of a theme that they had ever seen - and they do Auctions for a living!! Our SCS students once again impressed Chef Jon Bonnell. Every year he says that our students are some of the best wait staff he works with, including adults, but this year he said that he had never gotten out that many plates in as short amount of time as he did at our Auction. Sixteen minutes, start to finish. He was very pleased and once again impressed. We brought in over $200,000 at this year's Auction, once again surpassing our budgeted goal. Fund An Item exceeded last year's total of $36,000, which was our goal. The Elementary School Library is almost fully furnished, and, thanks to the electronic bidding in the Silent Auction, we had a 50% increase in the Silent Auction total. The high selling item in the Live Auction was the concrete donated by Steve and Linda Cervas, which went for $9,100. Everyone wants to know what the dog went for - $1,500! Thank you, as always, to the many volunteers who devoted hours to ensure the success of this Auction. Your time and talent is essential to everything the school does and we are very grateful for each and every one of you. The generosity and spirit of giving prevalent in the hearts of the parents of Southwest Christian School is never more evident than at the Auction each year. We recognize and appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, and your participation! Jill Shaw Auction Director |
